Assuming social distancing is limited and State Parks are open.
Leave Friday Harbor , about 16 nautical miles to Echo Bay going north over the top of Orcas. A nice trip with few hazards past Yellow Island and up Spring Pass. Tidal currents can be strong in the pass so going to the west of Jones Island I an option to consider.
Of course one could go south from Friday Harbor through Upright and then Obstruction Passes east of Orcas. That is about 5 miles further but not a bad trip.
Plan to moor in Echo Bay Friday night as there is a minus tide that evening. Lots of mooring buoys and good anchoring there.
Meet on the beach for drinks and appetizers around 5:30, dinner on your own.
Meet on the beach around 10:30 for a walk to Ewing Cove. A couple miles there and back. On your own for the rest of the day, but hike, sail or dinghy around to Fossil Bay for potluck barbecue around 5:30. We have reserved the picnic shelter if the weather doesn’t cooperate. There is a dock in this bay but only 4 feet of water at low tide. Many mooring buoys and room to anchor too.
Return to Friday Harbor. Back the way you came or complete circumnavigation of Orcas and Shaw Islands.
