It all came together Saturday May 12.
Perfect weather. Nice wind. Good friends new and old.
Griffin Bay set the stage with the backdrop of the snowcapped Olympic mountains to the south and proud Mt. Baker to the east.
The cruisers were out in force and put us on notice that you don’t have to have a race machine to do well! The top 3 finishers had an average PHRF ratings of 245!
It was the FHSC race debut for Ray & Jenny’s Pinagree’s Serenade and what an entrance she made! When you sail them well, Catalina’s can be deceptively quick!
John Manning, Ed Hale and Lisa Sadler made Narwal a sight to behold, stately and regal as she charged around the buoys!
John and friends on Mix Up joined us and all I can say is >WOW< can that boat turn heads! Smooth, fast and sexy. She looks quick just standing still!
Jim Reuscher and company on Kathy Sue brought the charm, character and just the sheer joy of being out on the water.
Phil Benedict and friends on the beautiful Juliet danced as long as their big genoa allowed them as the breeze picked up.
Wailana suffered wardrobe malfunction when the skipper forgot to bring the right dress for the party! They leisurely strolled around the course under mainsail alone.
Norris, Karen and Layla Palmer on Lana Ann were a model of quick consistency all day long. Always at or near the top of the fleet! Congrats to them for winning top honors in all four races!
The after race party was a blast as we gathered at the dock on Wailana to swap stories over beverages. Narwal and Lana Ann added to their haul when they won the raffle! For their prizes, Narwal chose the Bluetooth speaker and Lana Ann the lithium spotlight!
We are working on getting the results up on the website but are having a bit of technical trouble. Stay tuned!
